Cassie Schroer EDUC 200 Ethics Philosophy 8 April 2015 My Code of Ethics When forming my code of ethics for my classroom, I will use past experiences that have shaped me to be who I am today. Students need an equal chance and the chance to learn while in school. I will be the teacher who has mutual respect in the classroom. When I respect the students the students should in return respect me as the teacher. This will not always be the easiest thing because some students tend to act out for attentions or other reasons at that time. As a teacher I will set the boundaries for what is allowed in the classroom and make sure the students are fully aware at the beginning. To do this I will try to be the best to be the students’ role model by showing them the ways of the classroom and acting in a positive way that way they do listen. I will have to treat the students fairly by rewarding those who have done the right thing or punishing those who have not followed the rules or were disrespectful. As the teacher I am responsible of the students’ safety while they are there during the day. I will have to follow the school rules dealing with safety and also what I may feel is needed in my classroom. As a person who is looked to in the community, I will have to show that I am right for the position and can be looked at in a positive way such as a leader. As a teacher I will keep learning even after I finish college. Material is always changing and new ideas are always being shaped so I will need to take this into consideration when teaching young children. I will be up to date on new technology that could be used to advance the learning in my classroom. I will need to serve in the community as a member of the area by showing that I am there for the right reason and not just slacking by on my work. I will have mutual respect for my coworkers by treating everyone fairly and with respect. In return I hope to get the respect of my coworkers. I hope to have a close relationship where we can share new ideas or thoughts about how I can better my classroom. As a teacher it is also my responsibly to be in contact with the children’s parents so I can let them know how their child is doing and what they can do to help at home to further their education. Being in contact with the parents creates a good relationship with them that way they trust you with their child every day. Overall the ethics I choose for the classroom are what I believe are most important to me and to the students. As the teacher it is my responsibility that each students has the equal chance in school and while learning.
